• Is No-Till really 'Greener'?

I think adding cover crops to no-till is something that could really reduce the burndown spraying in some of these no-till systems. At this point the turnips that Steve Groff out in PA is growing and selling and the ryegrass/ winter rye grain are the best canidiates for control the winter annual weeds.

The catch is getting the cover crop stands established before the first killing frost. When late maturity corn and soybeans are grown, aerial seeding seems like the only option to plant. These cover crops do much better with a drill.

I wonder if there's a seed coating that could be put on cover crop seeds that would delay emergence. That could maybe open up seeding a cover crop at the planting or sidedressing of the current crop.
